The StemWijzer remains popular, but more and more people are also submitting their political questions to AI.
Is it wise to ask ChatGPT which box you should colour red on 29 October?
Together with Fontys ICT students Bram, Jordan and Tim, Fontys ICT lecturer Frans Mouws built his own student voting advice tool using ChatGPT. ‘We uploaded the election programmes into our own chatbot, had it generate questions based on the content and gave it a student-friendly twist,’ says Frans.
An example question: ‘Your oat milk suddenly costs more than a festival token. The receipt feels like a horror film and your train pass is more expensive than your rent. What do you do?’
Our conclusion: AI can certainly help, but only if you feed it with current and reliable sources, such as the election programmes themselves. If you use outdated or general data, you run the risk of receiving advice based on positions from years ago.
We were featured on EditieNL with this project. It was great to show how AI is also being allocated in education to address current social themes. Watch the clip via this link. Link to the Student Election Guide can be found here.
